The Stone Hound Pub & Kitchen

The Stone Hound is a fairly new option to Antrim town, taking over the site of one of our family’s favourite spots to go to, Jakes, which closed suddenly in 2024. However the owners of the restaurant are not new to the area. They occupy the current tender for The Boathouse at lough neagh which has great gluten free options and the iconic gluten free destination, Kraken in portrush. All this to say that they have good credentials for their gluten free knowledge and both in the established restaurant’s kitchen practices and the new regime.

I have been to the stone house a few times now and although service can be slow and slightly scattered the food has been lovely and I haven’t had adverse reactions. I have however had several reports that this chaotic front of house setup has resulted in the wrong meals being delivered to table and wrong information given to customers about what is and isn’t gluten free. So there are still kinks to be worked out but I wouldn’t write them off yet. I would however be very cautious and make to check and double check what is being served to me.
